Fotorama web plug-in for Lightroom

Intro

Hi, my name is Peter, and I discovered Fotorama as an easy to use, functional and very appealing gallery engine. And the best thing is: it's free.

I am an enthusiastic hobby photographer and for managing my (raw) images I use Adobe's Lightroom 5. I thus thought it would be nice to be able to generate Fotorama galleries straight from Lightroom.

I took this as an opportunity to get to know the Lightroom SDK and try to implement a web gallery plug-in that uses Fotorama.

Finally, I succeeded to put something together and I think it might be of use for the one or other. So I decided to make it available for download (I put it under MIT license).

It is a very early stage. It does not even have a proper version number yet. So I provide the revision of my subversion repository (if anyone wants to see whether there is ever a new version).

Most (some?) Fotorama options can be set in the plug-in. If you want to make additional changes, grid.html is the place to look for.

I tested (i.e. developed) the plug-in on Lightroom 5.3, but I see no reason why it shouldn't work with earlier versions.

Download the plug-in here (rev 32).

Setup

On Windows, just unzip the downloaded file into the following folder (make sure to replace <DRIVE> and <USER> with the values appropriate for your system):

<DRIVE>:\Users\<USER>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom\Web Galleries\

On Mac, the path should look something like this (sorry, I cannot provide more information, I don't have one):

<userhome>/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Lightroom/Web Galleries/

• Added an option to choose between using CDN or using ressources stored on your webspace. (Unfortunately, the files will always be created even if not used, but you could just delete the folder "fr".)
• Added a work around for the problem that the default fullscreen setting (which is "false") would not be correctly set in the options pane.
  (I guess that was due to the mixture of boolean and non-boolean values in the items list.)

• Added inputs for click-transition, color of active thumbnail border, lazy load and caption shadow on/off.

Know issues

• Sometimes the gallery does not show in Lightroom and you need to restart Lightroom (probably several times until it works). The reason for this seems to be that Lightroom did not succeed in loading the javascript in time. This is typically also the case when you have no internet connection at all.
  Update: You can now turn off the use of the CDN (see notes on rev 28) in order to see what you are configuring. But remember to turn CDN back on before uploading.
• Fotorama's caption cannot be used, because I "misuse" it to display a count (n/N).
